Work Lamp LJ installation |
| For the opening of the new OPEN store in Boda Glasbruk June 18, designer group Form Us With Love made a huge Light Jockey installation of 91 Work Lamps (each in 24 K gold) arranged in a hexagonal matrix. The dimmers of the lamps was arranged in an identical matrix, forming a mixing table. The installation makes it possible for visitors to create simple images of light by adjusting each dimmer in the mixing table. "When we designed the Work Lamp for Design House Stockholm in 2009, we wanted to use the typology of something that was considered greasy and make it beautiful. When DHS asked us to embellish their OPEN opening with something special, we thought it would be a great idea to use the Work Lamp and push this idea even further by making an interactive gold chandelier out of a garage utensil." More than 1100 plastic straps were used to build the installation, and the total retail value of the lamps is approximately €18.000. The Light Jockey installation will visit Stockholm during this fall.
