Design House Stockholm strengthens its positions in Germany and Switzerland

FEBRUARY 1, 2011
During the autumn, Design House Stockholm has been expanding its team with new agencies on the German and Swiss markets. Germany and Switzerland are markets that are very familiar to Design House Stockholm, having already had distributors there for many years. A year ago, Design House Stockholm’s first franchise store opened in Frankfurt, and has had a successful first year. Scandinavian design is now a well-established design idiom in Europe, its products characterised by function, quality and simplicity. There is now increasing interest in the brand from department stores and specialist stores.

“The economies in Germany and Switzerland are both strong, and will hold leading positions in the economic expansion which northern Europe is going to be undergoing in the years to come. We are pleased to have strengthened our positions through collaborative relationships with professional, dedicated agents,” says Sales and Marketing Manager, Andreas Gustafson.

In Germany, Alexander Sanner and Ulrica Gasteyer are the franchisees who have taken the additional step of becoming agencies. After a successful first year, the obvious thing for Design House Stockholm to do is to expand this collaborative venture. Ulrica Gasteyer was born in Sweden, but has been living in Germany for the past 18 years. However, with a background in the hotel industry and having a burning interest in design, she believes that working with Design House Stockholm is absolutely perfect for her. Alexander Sanner has had more than ten years experience in sales and marketing of lifestyle brands and believes strongly in the future: “We already know that Design House Stockholm’s range goes down well in Germany - there is an interest in good, high quality Scandinavian design.”

In Switzerland, the new agent is Juergen Henkel. Mr Henkel has a great deal of experience in retail and entrepreneurship. His career began with Bodum, and he has held leading executive positions in companies such as de Sede and Karstad. Juergen Henkel is now running his own company and is going to process the important, expansive market that Switzerland comprises.

Design House Stockholm wishes its new partners good luck in their work of conveying the best within contemporary Scandinavian Design.
